Pattern Review… Helen's twist hem 3 by 3 Tee

Helen @vintageshabbyoneofakind kindly agreed to write a review of her make after testing the 3 by 3 Tees Pattern. Helen received this pattern to make and review with no obligation. The opinions shared are all her own.

Do you sew for others? I have made clothes and accessories for many of my friends and family over the years and I love it when my makes are truly appreciated and I see them being worn and enjoyed!

Helen originally made this lovely twist hem version of the 3 by 3 Tees pattern for herself but then kindly gifted it to her friend to make her smile after being ill for a few days. Read Helens review below.

“Hi! I’m Helen. I made the 3 by 3 tee pattern up in some jersey fabric from my stash. I choose the V-neck and long sleeves with twisted hem. I love that there is a choice with one pattern.

I checked my measurements and chose medium. I prefer to use my overlocker for knits but followed instructions for front and then proceeded on my overlocker being aware of seam size. Soon I was making up the neck and I pinned and tacked as my usual way to check size and position was all good.

My version came up large but I have a friend who will love it and I think it will fit her better. I found it a little long and I am 5.9” tall so I think this was due to the fabrics stretch more than anything. I calculated 20% stretch across the grain & 5% the other way (lengthwise) .

I completed my hems on my cover stitch machine and they worked well.

My fabric was very loose (and drapes) and I think overall a firmer fabric would have been better but for a toile I learnt a lot about where to go on my next make of the 3 by 3 tee pattern in a smaller size.”
