Hi, I’m Sarah from My Handmade Wardrobe Patterns

We launched MHW Patterns in 2016 and we have been using our patterns to teach people how to sew their own wardrobes in our workshops and in their own homes ever since.

About the designer

MHW patterns are designed by me, Sarah Laws, in my studio in The Makers Yard, Leicester.

I trained in fashion design at Westminster University before working as a designer in the fashion industry for 7 years.

I set up Crafty Sew & So in 2015 when I started teaching others to sew and make their own clothes. I launched My Handmade Wardrobe Patterns in 2016 and have been enjoying making patterns for my own brand and other indie pattern designers ever since.

I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience to enable everyone to make their own clothes and feel great about their uniques bodies and style.

About the patterns

Our patterns are designed to enable you to make the clothes you want to wear every day. And no matter how long you have been sewing for, we believe you should have fun making your clothes!

So, when we write our instructions we don’t assume you have a lot of sewing experience, or hide important details (such as seam allowances). Everything you need to know before you sew is clearly laid out in an easy to follow format.

All My Handmade Wardrobe Patterns feature in-depth instructions, supported by additional techniques tutorials and advice. Our step-by-step photographs and instructions are written in everyday language and any sewing techniques or terms are clearly explained along the way to ensure you will understand the process for this make and lots more to follow!

About the Courses and Retreats

We love meeting and working with you face to face and online through our workshops, retreats and online courses and events.

Sarah leads a variety of sewing experiences, supported by a fabulous team of fellow tutors, which are aimed to help any home or hobby dressmaker level-up their sewing skills and experience and learn advanced techniques including fitting, pattern making and professional finishing.

We also work in partnership with Crafty Sew and So to host dressmaking events including The Dressmakers Ball and Crafty Sewing Camp. Find out more here.
