Pattern Review… Kate's classic Homebody Joggers

Kate, who is on Instagram as @lostk4t_sews, kindly agreed to make a review our Homebody Joggers Pattern. I gifted her the pattern (after mentioning at a sewing day that it was next on her to-make list!) with the request for an honest review and feedback, and all opinions are her own.

"I've spent much of lockdown rocking around in various loudly-patterned (could be accused of being PJs) joggers, so thought it was time I made myself some in a sensible colour, which would pass as being wearable down the shops. I knocked a pair up with this navy organic french terry that I've had in my stash for a while (eBay purchase).

I made a size medium to correspond with my measurements, with no adjustments, as the legs seemed like they'd be long enough for me (I'm 5ft9). They came together very quickly and were finished in around an hour, mostly using the overlocker. I left off the tie because I find them annoying and always end up taking them out.

It's a lovely pattern, they came together very quickly, fit well (slightly big, but I'm very happy with them that way) and I love the higher waist and cuffed ankles.

I especially like the way the waistband is put together with the elastic inside and then sewn onto the joggers in one go rather than leaving an opening, fiddling about threading the elastic through and then sewing the opening shut.

They have lovely deep pockets, a high waistband (YES!!!!!) and the ankle cuffs give them a really nice shape. If I was being critical, I'd say they needed taking in a smidge around the bottom, as I'm somewhat lacking in the booty department, but they're for slobbing in, so I'll be leaving them exactly as they are. I might size down next time depending on the fabric.

All in all, a very easy, quick make to add a staple to my wardrobe that will get a huge amount of wear. I've already got my fabric lined up for the next pair ☺️

I'm also wearing another MHW pattern, the 3 by 3 tees in Miffy jersey. I've gone for the scoop neck, which I find more flattering for me.”
