Sewing for Pleasure 2024

We had a fabulous time at the Sewing for Pleasure show at the NEC Birmingham earlier this month! I was supported by the dream team, Annette and Grace who were so helpful and enabled me to talk to so many current and new customers at the show.

I really enjoyed discussing my next project, something I am so excited about - the Sew your Own Style programme launching in May 2024.

Sew Your Own Style is a free to join, self-guided programme designed to empower sewists like you, to explore and embrace your own authentic style and dress to express yourself with confidence. Take your style into your own hands and explore how to create garments to help you feel like the best version of you through fun and  interactive challenges throughout the month of May! Keep your eyes peeled for our emails and follow the hashtag #sewyourownstyle24 on Instagram.

It was so lovely to chat to lots of my wonderful customers, including fabulous Michelle who came to our retreat earlier this year, at the Sewing for Pleasure show this weekend. I appreciate the face-to-face interactions so much as a mostly online brand.
I always enjoy chatting about your MHW patterns sewing plans, helping with any questions and I especially love seeing what you’ve made! So when you’re done please share photos using #MHW*patternname* on your favourite social media platform - you’ll really make my day!

I also loved offering a free measuring demo to help customer get top tips on measuring themselves to learn how to choose the right size in our patterns, talking through how to do any adjustments they might need to get the best fit for their bodies.

Hosting the MHW catwalk at the show was such a privilege and seeing the amazing, confident and empowered models show off my creations on the catwalk was the biggest thrill! A huge thanks to my wonderful models who made each and every look shine!

When creating my samples I thought carefully about my models and choose fabric and styles I thought would suit both their look and personalities. I hope you were inspired to make some of the MHW patterns your way!

We were delighted to support the Sew Yellow for Endo campaign with Jess @sowhatifisew and supporters wearing their yellow creations using MHW patterns!

We also showcased an exclusive sneak peek of new samples of some of our yet to be released patterns! Take a look here for a sneak peek of our upcoming styles and let me know which one you like best!

We also showcased a catwalk show of makers outfits from last years Dressmakers Ball and launched ticket sales for the Dressmakers Ball 2024. Tickets are on sale now! have you got yours?

We celebrated in the evening with a fab evening out for Pizza, escaping the NEC to head into Birmingham city centre. The pizza was top-notch and the company was even better!

The sewing shows are alway exhausting, as we pack so much in but I wouldn’t do it any other way - they are such fun! I always love bumping into old sewing friends and making new ones. I loved meeting Helen Rhiannon, author of “Dressmaking the Easy Guide” and chatting about all things shop and sewing! Sewing friends really are the best!

I met so many amazing people ready to take the Sewing at our Own Style challenge and discover how to adapt and create patterns to express their authentic sewing style. If you’re intrigued, do make sure you sign up to my newsletter to find out more!
