Join in with “Sew Your Own Style”!

Sew Your Own Style is a free to join, self-guided programme designed to empower sewists. Learn to explore and embrace your own authentic style and dress to express yourself with confidence. The programme will include thinking prompts, tasks and evaluation resources. Following the programme will encourage and enable you to start thinking like a designer for your own wardrobe. At the end of the programme you will have a clear picture of your own style and what garments you want to make and wear to express this!

When you first start sewing it is essential to pick simple patterns and learn as you go. However, very often these styles aren't the type of clothing we might choose to buy from the shops or wear off the peg. Once you have been sewing for some time you might start to realise you are sewing styles which aren't truly reflective of your own authentic style and don't work for your lifestyle.

Perhaps you are sewing a lot of clothes which you only wear a couple of times because they aren't practical for your everyday needs. You may have a wardrobe full of clothes but always feel you have nothing to wear because nothing works together.

Maybe you're going through a life change i.e. changing careers, becoming a mum, retirement or divorce and you are at a crossroads. This is the perfect time to re-assess your tastes, wardrobe and sewing plans.

The Sew Your Own Style programme will be delivered by email to newsletter subscribers on a daily basis with a summary email at the end of each week. The resources included will form a comprehensive guide to help you sew your own style.

The programme begins on 1st May 2024. The first programme email will be sent out on this date and then each weekday throughout May. There will be a summary email each Saturday. you can also find all the content here and dip back in whenever you like. The content will remain live for 2 months after the programme ends.

Following all the daily prompts will enable you to fully understand your style, the requirements of your wardrobe as well as how to plan and create a wardrobe full of clothes to suit your authentic self. Even if you only have little time you can still utilise the prompts and the weekly summary to start thinking more intentionally about sewing your own wardrobe to suit your own personal style.

You can share your discoveries and follow others via on Instagram, using the hashtag #SewYourOwnStyle24. Make sure you sign up here by the end of April!
